The story

Hotel Continental opened in 1900 with 30 rooms and Theatercaféen on the first and second floors. Caroline and Christian Boman Hansen took over the running of the hotel and Theatercafeén in 1909, and both have been in the family ever since.

In 1949, the café was rebuilt against its character and old style. The third generation owner, Ellen Brochmann, didn't like this. Her dream was to reverse the modernization, and in 1971 Theatercaféen was returned to its original Art Nouveau style. In 2010, a chambre separée and a bar were built in the middle of the restaurant. Theatercaféen is owned by the fourth generation, Elisabeth Brochmann.
