The first portraits appeared on the wall in 1924 and today there is a collection of 87 portraits. Artists and cultural personalities have been drawn and given their place on the walls of Theatercaféen. They have thus become an important part of a tradition going back almost 100 years. The founder of Theatercaféen, Caroline Boman Hansen, understood that if you want to create a regular place, you have to let prominent guests characterize it.

Uniqueness is not least applicable to our newest addition to the wall - Maria Bonnevie! She has had great success as an actress. She won the Amanda Award as female actress of the year in 2002. Since her acting debut in 1991 with White Bear King Valemon and The White Viking, she has had many major roles, including I am Dina in 2002 and The Angel by Margreth Olin in 2009. In 2022, she had a central role in the film Et glass til, directed by Thomas Vinterberg. The film won the Oscar for Best International Film. Now she is also immortalized with her portrait at the entrance to Theatercaféen.
It remains to be seen who in the future will share Toralv Maurstad's certainty that, even in lonely moments, they will always be surrounded by festive people in the café, as he described in the speech he gave at the hanging of his own portrait in 1984: "At the same time, it is strange to know that every day from now on you will find yourself in good company among eating and talking and laughing and toasting people - good to know in lonely moments."
